Biography
After graduating her Master degree in 2011 at the Bucharest National University of Music, the Romanian mezzosoprano receives the CEE Musiktheater Vienna Scholarship. The tenor Corneliu Fănăţeanu becomes an important artistic figure in Emanuela’s development during her years spent in Bucharest. She continues as a member of the Académie lyrique from Opéra National de Paris (2015-2017) where she intensively prepares with mezzosoprano Anita Rachvelishvili and attends Masterclasses held by Luciana D’Intino, Ildar Abdrazakov and Ann Murray (Villecroze Academy).
The mezzosoprano has been a laureate of several voice competitions, among them being 2nd Prize at the 6th International Vocal Competition of China – Ningbo (2014), the Audience award at the Bordeaux- Medoc Vocal Competition – France (2016) and 2nd prize at the Ottavio Ziino Vocal Competition in Rome (2017). She performed on acclaimed world symphonic stages like Alte Oper Frankfurt, Berliner Philarmonie, National Center of Performing Arts – Beijing, Auditorium Radio France, Romanian Radio Hall and Romanian Athenaeum.
Emanuela performed since an early age at the National University of Bucharest Dido from Dido & Aeneas by H.Purcell, Ruggiero from Alcina by G.F.Händel, Rosina from Il barbiere di Siviglia by G.Rossini and starting 2012 she began her collaboration with the Bucharest National Operahouse, singing Romeo from I Capuleti ed i Montecchi by V. Bellini, the title role from Carmen by G.Bizet and Zerlina from Don Giovanni by W.A.Mozart.
During her apprenticeship in the Académie lyrique from Opéra National de Paris, Emanuela sang the roles of Messaggiera (L’Orfeo) and Mariana (Signor Bruschino), Greek woman and Second Priestess in Iphigenie en Tauride.
Starting 2018/2019, she performed the title role from Hérodiade (Saint-Étienne Operahouse), 2ndNymph (Rusalka) and Laura (Yolanta) at the Paris National Opera, Maddalena from Rigoletto (Savonlinna Opera Festival), Contessa/Madelon from Andrea Chenier (Nice Côte d’Azur Operahouse) and Olga from Eugene Onegine (Marseille Operahouse).
The 2020/2021 season would have highlighted her debuts in Cavalleria rusticana’s Santuzza, Bluebeard’s Castle as Judith and in Das Rheingold by Wagner as Fricka.
In 2021/2022, she performed the main role in Carmen at the Bucharest National Opera, Queen Gertrude from Hamlet by A.Thomas at the Saint-Étienne Operahouse and Mrs. Doc from A quiet place by Bernstein at Paris National Opera.
Future engagements include collaborations with Metz Operahouse, Teatro San Carlo Naples, Paris National Operahouse and Reims Operahouse.
